Erik Spoelstra Bets The House

Erik Spoelstra bets the house.
A lot of things went down around the League this weekend. With 27 games played over three days, a lot of moments get swept under the rug, and many questions go unanswered. Why do the Thunder look so lackluster? Can the Celtics stay this good (and this healthy) until the playoffs? Why are the Trail Blazers on TV every day?

In the midst of so much uncertainty, one question was answered this weekend with resounding clarity, a question first whispered this summer in Miami, that has grown into a near national obsession. Now that the Heat have LeBron and Wade, who takes the last shot?

The answer, Erik Spoelstra would like you to know, is Eddie House.

Now, I didn't come here today to dump on Eddie house. I want to say that I know he's a good three-point shooter, and I'm sure he's hit some big game-winners in his career. I tried my damnedest to find some epic YouTube clip to make my case, but all I could find was his game winning lay-up. I'll warn you, it's disappointing.

Instead, I just examined his stat line from Friday night. With the game on the line, the Miami Heat decided to give the ball to the guy who was 0-6 from beyond the arc.

If I tried to explain that this loss will cripple Miami's title hopes, or wreak havoc on their season, I'd be a lunatic. The sky is not falling, and the Heat are (unfortunately) not floundering. They slept off their tough loss to New Orleans, then woke up and absolutely thumped the Nets on Saturday, administering a 22-point defeat and accomplishing this:

Damn.
