No Regard Recaps: A New Source of Clean Energy

One Game We Watched Last Night: Denver Nuggets vs. Oklahoma City Thunder

Nuggets: 114, Thunder: 104

This game is the answer the America's clean energy question. Watching Russ and Kenneth and Iggy and even Reggie Jackson blur across the floor like manic jaguars in fast forward presents an idea: Harness this energy to power cities. A Westbrook drive could heat a school for three days. A Faried offensive rebound and dunk could run a fleet of buses for a week. A JaVale goaltend could power one goaltending-powered joke machine for eternity.

If we want to get that highly coveted federal grant, though, somebody has to talk to Kevin Durant. In the fourth quarter, he was not being absurdly athletic and energetic (even though he is). He was being unfailingly polite. On most possessions, he stood behind the three line to the left of the key and called for the ball, which never came. On two consecutive possessions he calmly waved at Westbrook like someone who has run into a friend he is only sort of excited to see. Russell is too constantly hopped up on fury and Cheetos to notice such tepid pleas. Kev didn't get the ball. He is and will always be the most important piece of the Thunder's government proposal, so he needs to act like it.

Sure, this whole energy experiment has its risks (as Serge's bloodied head discovered on its own), but what revolution doesn't? A playoff series between these two teams would ween us of foreign oil in seven games.

One Game We Didn't Watch Last Night: Los Angeles Clippers vs. Sacramento Kings

Clippers: 101, Kings: 116

Haha, ok. So happy the Kings didn't waste a 19-point, 7-assist game by Toney Douglas.

What Matt Barnes Is Up To (Volume 2): Ballin' So Hard

If you don't know who Matt Barnes is, well then, you better call somebody. Or just read our newest feature here at No Regard! It stars fan-favorite L.A. Clipper, Matt Kelly Barnes. We're gonna be keeping tabs on the swing man throughout the season to ensure that we're all in the loop on his activities on and off the court. Warning: He may surprise you with just how much of a renaissance man he is.

Maybe you have been living on a rock in outer space this NBA Season and have not been privy to the extremely high level Barnes is playing at right now. If so, consider leaving said rock, you are missing a career year from MKB.

Is Matt Barnes the front runner for Sixth Man of the Year Award? Yes, yes he is, unequivocally. How about MVP? Definitely, he's definitely in said conversation.

Is Barnes likely to win finals MVP if the Clippers win the Championship? Certainly, no question about it. Will he capture titles during the Sprint NBA All-Star Celebrity Game, BBVA Rising Stars Challenge, Sears Shooting Stars, Taco Bell Skills Challenge, Foot Locker Three-Point Contest, Sprite Slam Dunk Contest and the NBA All-Star Game Presented By Kia? Easily.

Need more proof that Barnes is pretty ridiculous currently?

He just dropped 16 in a Clipper win over Memphis, without Chris Paul.

No Regard Presidential Previews: Los Angeles Clippers (Bill Clinton)

Oh the season. Oh the season! Election or NBA, both are upon us. We're getting into the spirit by bringing you our season previews (with a little help from the presidents). One per day for the next 30 days—which will bring us to the Day of Reckoning. So please join us on the campaign trail as we shake hands, kiss babies and sink jumpers.

“I may not have been the greatest president, but I had the most fun eight years.” - Bill Clinton

A young, charismatic democrat took office, leading the country into a new era of Cool. The budget was balanced, new social programs were enacted and the United States enjoyed its longest period of peacetime economic expansion. Bill Clinton's presidency was a fun time to be an American, and Bill was a solid President as long as you can look past a couple glaring personal controversies, none of which really had anything to do with his political acumen.

The Lob City Clippers are one of the most electrifying teams in the NBA. Chris Paul and Blake Griffin are the league's most fun alley-oop combination. Griffin is a fan favorite and stars in nearly as many commercials as Peyton Manning. Chauncey Billups returns this year and Lamar Odom brings a lot to the table as well. The forest is wonderful to look at, but some of the trees are troublesome.

Having a team with Chris Paul and Blake Griffin on it sure is exciting, but like a certain impeachment following an improper relationship with dear old Monica Lewinsky, one must not forget the questionable dealings that sent CP3 to the Staples Center in the first place. A fairly equitable trade of Paul to the Lakers was vetoed by none other than David J. Stern, and within the week, CP3 moved to LA's former redheaded stepchild franchise. Lob City was born.

Other non-political concerns about our sax-playing, NAFTA-signing, Welfare-reforming 42nd President include the Whitewater controversy and the essentially forgotten Gennifer Flowers and Paula Jones maybe-affairs. Similarly, it seems NBA fans at large have forgotten that Clippers owner Donald Sterling is a racist slumlord and that Lamar Odom basically sulked his way through last season for the Mavericks before being cut, electing to keep a completely unearned $8 million. Neither of these things should affect how the Clips play this year, and just as Clinton left office with the highest approval rating ever despite being impeached, the Clippers are selling out road games and are among the league's most fun franchises. The future is bright for the "other" LA team, so long as Griffin's knees fare better than the tech bubble at the tail end of the Clinton years.

Rushed Pull-Up Jumpers

Pokemon who the team should adopt as its new mascot: Hitmonlee

Headline we'll be most sick of reading: “Will Blake Griffin Make 'The Leap'?”

Headline we're most looking forward to: “Lamar Odom Smacked in Face by Mark Cuban Following Road Loss to Mavericks”

If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you enter the pearly gates?: “This place just got way cooler.”

No Regard Daily Preview: Happy Hour 11-12-10

If you are a regular reader of this blog, you may remember a feature we started this offseason, NBA Happy Hour. This Friday feature gave readers the opportunity to get drunk while, let's say, watching the FIBA championship game, by giving them certain things to look for and celebrate. We are now carrying this idea over to our weekend previews, in which we will tell you one game we'll be watching over the next three days, one game we won't be watching, and ways one could creatively reach Blackout City while enjoying either one. So without further ado: Grab a beer, follow the rules, and start the weekend with a Don Nelson-level buzz.

One Game We Will Definitely Watch This Weekend: Golden State Warriors vs. Milwaukee Bucks

Eric Gordon Dunks, Makes Case For You to Order League Pass Right Now

I only watched like 10 minutes of the Clippers-Spurs game (on League Pass), and I saw this:

I surely wouldn't have missed this dunk—a sadistic throwdown that was surely catalogued instantly by every one of NBA TV's video interns for inclusion on year-end highlight packages—even if I hadn't seen it live. But a dunk that registers this high on the Richter scale is the best argument there is against an anti-NBA stance like, "Only the fourth quarter matters" or, "The season's too long, only the playoffs matter." This dunk screams for people to pay attention early and often. Watching something this monstrous happen during the flow of game play, instead of on "SportsCenter," is as rewarding as watching one of those street artists use spray paint and a paper towel to create mayhem on canvas.

Also of equal import: Forget finding a nickname for Blake Griffin or Eric Gordon. This whole Clippers team needs its own thoughtful moniker first.

Team Dreamin' 2011: Clippers

At No Regard, we love basketball. We love the spectacle and strategy of the game, but sometimes the league's lack of imagination confounds and disappoints us. Call us optimists, visionaries, or kids who watched too much Space Jam, but we have ideas. Damn are we gonna share 'em.

During the 09'-10' season the Clippers ranked 20th in the NBA in attendance averaging a meek 16,343 fans per home game. The team they share an arena with, who also happen to be the best team in the league and start Kobe Bryant at 2 guard, were far better at bringing in fans averaging 18,997 attendees per home game. The Clippers should shed their role as the younger, uglier and dumber little-brother franchise of Los Angeles and head to greener pastures. Well maybe not greener, but certainly brighter.

Clip-Show, please move to Las Vegas.

Event Horizon: Clippers

This evening, LeBron James is slated to take up an hour of the world’s time to tell us where he’s going to be rapping and sleeping for the next couple of years. This gesture has so far been called vacuous, despicable, ego-maniacal and poisonous to sports. At No Regard, we think it’s hilarious and have imagined some of our favorite possibilities. Check back as Bron’s 9 PM deadline approaches for more predictions…

Immediate Impact: A horrible, career-threatening injury. There is no way this scenario would go well, which is why it has been laughable that the Clippers were ever mentioned in the first place.
