No Regard Daily Recap: 10-27-10

One Game We Watched Last Night: Oklahoma City Thunder Vs. Chicago Bulls

Chicago: 95 Thunder: 106

The night, as predicted, belonged to the stars that shined in Turkey this summer for team USA. Durant, Rose and Westbrook were all brilliant in a game that was fast paced, exciting to watch, and full of high-flying offense. KD and Westbrook's combined 58 points led the Thunder to their first win of the season, but Rose's penetration, finishing around the basket, and silly-precise passing didn't make things easy for OKC's version of Batman and Robin. The avid fan should feel more than satisfied with this game after watching young, humble stars put on a show during prime time. And the casual fan got to witness plenty of play above the rim. Here are a few observations that stood out for me:

*Rose was two steps ahead of the OKC defense all night. His left-handed no look bounce pass in the first quarter was straight filthy. His vision should scare the entire Eastern conference.

*How about Westbrook's one man fast break in the first quarter? Ever hear of stopping the ball, Chicago? Noah tried but didn't even have a prayer. Westbrook = quick as hell.

*We know that Durant is virtually unguardable, but after a summer in which his defense greatly improved he'll have a shot as an all-defensive player if he can continue to jump passing lanes like he did with 2:09 left in the 3rd quarter.

*I am tired of hearing about how Scal is a decent basketball player and an NBA journeyman. Van Gundy spoke about him last night for minutes. I get it already. Blah blah blah.

*Noah continues to be a beast. He never takes a play off when he's on the court.

*Tom Thibodeau sounds like he's been a pack-a-day smoker for twenty years. How is he that hoarse already?

*Dwight Howard met with Hakeem this summer. After watching Rose's ball fakes under the hoop it looks like he might have gotten some tips as well.

One Game We Didn't Watch Last Night: Sacramento Kings Vs. Minnesota Timberwolves

Kings: 117 Timberwolves: 116

Goddamn myself for missing this one. Are you kidding me?! A one point regulation game in which the two teams combine for over 230 points, Micheal Beasley looks like the OG Michael Beasley, Cousins puts up 14 and 8 in his NBA debut, and Wes Johnson has a posterizing dunk in his second quarter ever of regular season NBA basketball? Stop it. If I had a time machine and could only use it once I'd go back to last night and watch this game.
