The Timberwolves are Comedy Gold

Watch out, Tina Fey. Next year's race for the Mark Twain Prize for Humor just got a little bit taller.

I would never betray the Knicks, but all I'm saying is that when I see the 'Wolves visit the Garden on December 6, I won't exactly be rooting against anyone. Love these guys.

One Game We Watched Last Night: Oklahoma City Thunder Vs. Chicago Bulls

Chicago: 95 Thunder: 106

The night, as predicted, belonged to the stars that shined in Turkey this summer for team USA. Durant, Rose and Westbrook were all brilliant in a game that was fast paced, exciting to watch, and full of high-flying offense. KD and Westbrook's combined 58 points led the Thunder to their first win of the season, but Rose's penetration, finishing around the basket, and silly-precise passing didn't make things easy for OKC's version of Batman and Robin. The avid fan should feel more than satisfied with this game after watching young, humble stars put on a show during prime time. And the casual fan got to witness plenty of play above the rim. Here are a few observations that stood out for me:

Beauty of the Beas

The movie Gunnin' for that #1 Spot opens with a handicam shot of Michael Beasley doing what he does best: acting like a goofball. The rest of the movie, which follows Beasley and the other competitors in 2006's Elite 24 high schoolers game at Rucker Park in Harlem, contains equal parts that and the thing that Beasley does second best: playing phenomenal basketball.

Unfortunately, in his two years with the Miami Heat, Beasley did not get the opportunity to do either of those things very well. He has been a solid contributor during that time, no doubt about it. But expectations were big when he was taken with the second pick in 2008. He had been dominant in high school (at nearly a dozen different institutions) and in college (at Kansas State). And, above all, he seemed poised for a spectacular NBA career. He was a big forward with crazy athleticism, and he had the personality of a Barkleyesque class clown who also needed to be taken seriously.

ESPN's "SportsNation": No doubt that Simmons is a polarizing figure, and for good reason. But there's no denying that when he hits—whether in writing, podcasting, whatever—it's normally thunderous. His spoof of "The Decision" is no different. And anything with Michelle Beadle is the best.

Advertising Age: An inside baseball look at how "The Decision" came to be. Interesting for sure, but you've got to admit it's a little creepy just how excited Ari Emanuel is about the whole affair.

NBA Off-Season: A kind suggestion to LeBron that the journey to restoring his image should begin with entering the Dunk Contest. Which I fully co-sign, since his act of backing out of last year's contest was when the evil began creeping in anyway.

TrueHoop: And now, for me at least, away from LeBron and back to Summer League. If you didn't catch the T-Wolves game yesterday, John Krolik (of the classy Cavs: The Blog) breaks down Wesely Johnson's debut. Sounds like the kid's got patience, already knows his role and carries a few wows in his back pocket. Basically his play mirrors his appearance.

Slam Online: I'll take any excuse to post this video, because it's an era-defining moment. Young Iverson making the world tremble, setting history books ablaze.

Question of the Day

I'll admit, I'm one of the few here at No Regard who didn't watch the draft. Sometimes you just have to go see Phish. (But I did hear some Evan Turner chants in the lot before the show, which was right outside Philly.) But that picture up there is all I need to know.

Wesley Johnson clearly has the goods, but does he have the determination, disposition and stamina necessary to lead a league already heavy with Amar'e and Wade into a new epoch of fashion?
