So here's the thing: I was told to review what surely would have been a fascinating Orlando-New York game at The Garden tonight.

Unfortunately that game was called on account of asbestos.

No, I'm not kidding. Madison Square Garden was deemed an unsafe workplace for its hard-laboring employees, and I was told to shift my attention to the Lakers-Grizzlies matchup, which we all knew was going to be super lame.

I don't like playing by the rules, so instead, I decided to be a bit of a wild card, a free agent if you will, and decided to watch The Battle of Who Could Care Less: a showdown between the winless Wizards and the equally winless 76ers.

It turns out I am a genius. Here's why:

One Game We Were Definitely Going to Watch Tonight: New York Knicks vs. Orlando Magic

The Knicks game has been cancelled this evening due to "asbestos-related material" falling from the MSG ceiling during overnight maintenance after the Rangers game last night. WTF? Anyway, here's what we were thinking about before we found out about this madness...

What's up with Gallo these days? The Italian sharpshooter has looked far from impressive in the Knicks three games so far. Is all the trade buzz getting to his head? Is his wrist bothering him? Is the express subway line to Little Italy currently under construction? Whatever the case may be, patience is running thin in Knickland. They need him to step up his game, not only because he was pinned as their second best offensive weapon but also because his trade value is in serious decline. The marquee match-up tonight, though, belongs to two of the best big men in the game in Stoudemire and Howard. If the Knicks want to be a playoff team, they'll need to start beating some Eastern Conference superpowers at the Garden. Tonight will serve as a good measuring stick.

One Game We Probably Won't (But Now Might) Watch Tonight: Los Angeles Lakers vs. Memphis Grizzles

I really hope that I watch this tonight. Some on my favorite non-Boston games are when either the Gasols or the Lopezes face off. Marc has been solid so far this season, dropping eleven against Minnesota, and Pau has been typical Pau: silky smooth around the rim and always prolific and efficient in terms of offensive production. The Lake Show look to remain perfect while Memphis hopes to have a 3-1 record by the end of the night. Keys for a Memphis victory: slow down Mamba and win the battle of the Gasols. Keys for a Los Angeles victory: slow down the young Memphis backcourt and win the battle of the Gasols.

Wordapp: Halloween Edition

Halloween is the greatest day of the year. You dress up, go out, get drunk and become instant friends with like-minded people in the streets and on the subways. As a result of this writer's love for Halloween, I did not fully recover from the weekend until this morning. So my Halloween Twitter recap is a day or two late. And for that I apologize. But what this post lacks in timeliness, I assure you it makes up for in holy-shit-I-can't-believe-my-own-eyes awesomeness.

One Game We Watched Last Night: Portland Trail Blazers Vs. Chicago Bulls

Portland: 98 Chicago: 110

Hot Deng! The story tonight was the African native and his scorching 40 points, which led Chicago in a dominating performance against the formerly undefeated Portland Trail Blazers. This game was never close. Rose was Rose and as usual stirred the drink for Chicago. Where was Roy? I propped him up big time in my preview and he didn't get it together. Here's everything else I thought about while watching this game (and my thoughts on one game I didn't watch).

Eric Gordon Dunks, Makes Case For You to Order League Pass Right Now

I only watched like 10 minutes of the Clippers-Spurs game (on League Pass), and I saw this:



I surely wouldn't have missed this dunk—a sadistic throwdown that was surely catalogued instantly by every one of NBA TV's video interns for inclusion on year-end highlight packages—even if I hadn't seen it live. But a dunk that registers this high on the Richter scale is the best argument there is against an anti-NBA stance like, "Only the fourth quarter matters" or, "The season's too long, only the playoffs matter." This dunk screams for people to pay attention early and often. Watching something this monstrous happen during the flow of game play, instead of on "SportsCenter," is as rewarding as watching one of those street artists use spray paint and a paper towel to create mayhem on canvas.

Also of equal import: Forget finding a nickname for Blake Griffin or Eric Gordon. This whole Clippers team needs its own thoughtful moniker first.

No Regard Daily Preview: 11-1-10

One Game We Will Definitely Watch Tonight: Chicago Bulls Vs. Portland Trail Blazers

We all know that the point guard position is by far the deepest in the NBA these days. I don't need to list the names. You're familiar. But maybe I should, for Brandon's sake. Roy, that is. He's a bad man and sometimes slips through the cracks in the, "Badass point guard" conversation. He hits a ton of game winning shots and if scientists examined his body they'd find ice running through his veins.

He won't have time to stop and smell the roses tonight, though. Well, actually, he'll be around one Rose, so I'm sure he'll catch a whiff if he's able to stay in front of him. Derrick, that is. We'll see. The two young facilitators should be going at it all night and I can't wait. Rose and Roy, a true joy. Did I just get poetic a little bit? Look for Rose to continue attacking the hoop and Roy to drain shots from distance all night long.

Not too, too much on the line as the Bulls look to get to 2-1 while the Trail Blazers aim for 4-0. I guess that's a big deal actually. 4-0? Is that a big deal? Yeah, I think so. Only five undefeated teams left...
