Sick LeBron, Aching for a Statue, and McHale vs. the Frank

The Miami Heat evened the Eastern Conference finals on Wednesday night with stifling defense and another impressive fourth quarter performance from LeBron James. With the series knotted at one game a piece headed back to South Beach, here's what we gathered from game two:

*Carlos Boozer was always in the conversation as a big-time free agent this past summer. He was straight garbage last night and didn't sniff the floor in the deciding moments of the game. Who is the real Carlos Boozer anyway? We might very well be finding out.

*On the flip side, Udonis Johneal Haslem had his first impactful game all season, and it came just at the right time for the Heatles. His dunks, offensive-rebounding and interior presence are welcome additions for a Miami team that relies on some serious clowns to get the nitty-gritty work done. That said, I'd appreciate it if he kept his mouthguard in his mouth in between plays.

*Lost in all this, though, is poor Big Z, who sadly sat in the sideline last night in a blazer. Poor, poor, Z.

*That said, from Z's benching comes an opportunity. I'd like to see, for halftime entertainment, him against Scal in a shooting contest. Of course, they'd be in their dress clothes, no doubt.

*I'd be okay with a bit more Kurt Thomas in my life during this series, Coach T.

*Joakim Noah's +/- of -13 isn't too flattering for 31 minutes of play. Chicago needs a lot more from the Brooklynite who didn't hit double-digits in any statistical category.

*The league's MVP sure chucked up some three-point airballs last night.

*Hot Deng's buzzer-beating, nearly 3/4-court shot was pretty cool!

*In all seriousness, James has been clutch in the fourth quarter so far this playoffs. He all but slammed the nail in the coffin twice against my Celtics, and last night his late-game steals and dead-on three-point shooting sealed the deal for Miami.

*The Heat players seemed pretty bored by coach Spo's halftime speech.

*Is there a two-guard playing right now that can cover Wade?

*LeBron clearly emphasized how sick he felt during his post-game interview so he'd get some MJ Flu Game comparisons. Valiant effort, I guess.

In other NBA news...

*Kareem-Abdul Jabar feels slighted for not getting a statue outside of Staples Center. Oh boy... where do I go with this one?

*Minnesota Timberwolves GM David Kahn made a great joke about the lottery being rigged. Remarkable. Incredible. He's a fake person, right?

*Bron thinks Kyrie Irving would be a good fit for the Cavs. Brilliant analysis by the King, although he could have replaced "Kryie Irving" with, "anyone besides their current roster."

*I didn't mean that, I love Andy V. And don't forget about Sir Baron and JJ Hickson.

*Kevin McHale and Larry Frank are both up for Houston's head coaching position. Whoever has to make that decision has a tougher job than Barack Obama. Love both of those guys.

  1. I want a statue of myself playing soccer outside my college stadium. I feel slighted. I'm never donating again.

  2. They called the other night and tricked me into dropping an Abe Lincoln on some 1,000,000 donor challenge or some shit. Sounded like a hoax, but the kid that called told me that our basketball team made the D3 Big Dance for the first time when I asked him how things were on campus. That was a big day in my life so I caved and couged up the five bones. I liked his pitch.

  3. You're a sucker for a good pitch, what can you say? And I'm assuming you settled on $5 as a tribute to DeShawn Stevenson and his neck tattoo? Was that your subtle way of supporting the Mavs?
