No Regard Daily Previews: Tortoise and Hare

One Game We Are Definitely Going To Watch Tonight:
Boston Celtics vs. Denver Nuggets

Tonight's featured match up pits a classic run-and-gun high octane offense against a stone-cold, blue-collar defense. It should be great to watch and see if George Karl's hectic style can solve Boston's lockdown D. The key battle will be between Pierce and Anthony: can the Truth handle the jab-step and smile, or will Melo be able to handle the Truth?

Speaking of Melo (can you believe he's still on the Nuggets?), despite a drop in his scoring average, 22.8 down from last season's 28.2, he remains one of the best closers in the league and perhaps the purest scorer of his generation. (I'd love to hear some feedback in the comments section on that debate!) Off the bench, George Karl has found himself a sprightly backup for Billups in the form of former Tar Heel Ty Lawson, whose 8.8 points and four assists per contest have been pivotal in Denver's 13-7 start.

As for Boston, this might be the best they've ever played in the KG/Jesus era. They are so gellin', Magellan doesn't even describe them. They are like some sort of uber Magellan squared or something. And they're deep as hell. If healthy, they can use 11 guys without concern. That's the rub though, isn't it? Boston will need all the troops fresh as daisies come June and as such, Doc Rivers' challenge becomes ensuring that they get home court throughout without spoiling his older studs.

Tonight's matchup also features the return of two former Celtics back to Boston, MA: Chauncey Billups (drafted by the C's in 1997) and Mr. Candace Parker. I think it's amazing that the latter is starting for an NBA team this year. I still believe that Candace could probably average more than the 5.6 per game he's putting up if she were on the Nuggets, but it's a promising improvement over last year for Williams, who spent the majority of the season handing out Gatorade, waving towels, and looking for high-fives.

One Game We Won't Be Tuning In For Tonight Although Might Want To Consider Because It's Blake Griffin

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Los Angeles Clippers

Is there a name for this rivalry? Okay, so I know it's not really a rivalry, as the Lake Show is the class of the NBA and the Clip Show is well, pathetic. But they're still two teams that share the same building and city playing against each other ,so it has to mean something and should have a name. I'd love to hear some suggestions in the comments section. Here's mine: The Hollywood Hoops Classic! (It's not very good. Help!)

As for the game itself, get the ball to Blake Griffin, please!
