Comparing Williamses to Geralds

The 2011-2012 Nets have been defined by two distinct eras. The first: "Williams to the Fourth Power." The second: "Gerald Squared." The former, aptly named because during that period, the team dressed four players with the last name Williams (Shawne, Deron, Sheldon, and Jordan). The latter—and current—version of the Nets is also aptly named (by me) because the team dresses two players with the first name Gerald (Green and Wallace).

In doing a brief, but thorough, statistical analysis, it's clear that these eras define two completely different teams. There's no arguing that New Jersey Net success this season has been wholly dependent on if their game-day program listed four players with the last name Williams or two players with the first name Gerald.

Nets Land Stud, Change Landscape of NBA

In the biggest move so far since the lockout ended, the Net Jersey Nets nabbed wanted man, superstar, and arguably the most coveted free agent on the market: Mr. Candace Parker.

The former member of the Hawks, Timberwolves, Knicks, Nuggets, Kings, and Celtics will most certainly become the favorite target of Deron Williams. He may or may not pair alongside Dwight Howard.

Candace Parker has yet to make an official statement regarding where the couple will reside.

One Game We Are Definitely Going To Watch Tonight:
Boston Celtics vs. Denver Nuggets


Tonight's featured match up pits a classic run-and-gun high octane offense against a stone-cold, blue-collar defense. It should be great to watch and see if George Karl's hectic style can solve Boston's lockdown D. The key battle will be between Pierce and Anthony: can the Truth handle the jab-step and smile, or will Melo be able to handle the Truth?

Speaking of Melo (can you believe he's still on the Nuggets?), despite a drop in his scoring average, 22.8 down from last season's 28.2, he remains one of the best closers in the league and perhaps the purest scorer of his generation. (I'd love to hear some feedback in the comments section on that debate!) Off the bench, George Karl has found himself a sprightly backup for Billups in the form of former Tar Heel Ty Lawson, whose 8.8 points and four assists per contest have been pivotal in Denver's 13-7 start.
