No Regard Recaps: Kobe-the-Point

One Game We Watched Last Night: Phoenix Suns vs. Los Angeles Lakers

Suns: 96, Lakers: 86

So many storylines to discuss from this basketball game: Kobe's new role on the Lakers as Kobe-the-Point, the Suns rocking their old-school threads and Steve Nash returning to his old ball club. For me, though, everything in the NBA is about Kobe-the-Point these days.

Book the parade route for June! Start handing out bells, whistles and party hats! Dust off the championship floats! Call up the banner manufacturer! With Kobe-the-Point looking to pass, pass, pass the night away, the Lakers are unstoppable. Three in a row ain't no thing, clearly they will continue their league-wide dominance against the lowly Suns, right?

Sure looks that way through three quarters. Kobe-the-Point is chucking that ball to everyone. Dwight's getting touches, Earl Clark is playing professional basketball and even the disgruntled Pau Gasol is getting in on the new-look, "everybody gets a car!" Lakers. Will Kobe-the-Point ever shoot again!? He's passing up wide-open dunks even. Kobe-the-Point is so unselfish. Kobe-the-Point is such a team first guy.

With Kobe-the-Point playing point now, what's Steve Nash to do? He usually plays point! Who cares, the Lakers are going to Australia! (After they win the title, of course.) Dwight looks engaged with Kobe-the-Point as the team's new sheriff. The sky truly is the limit for the Lakers. A million titles? More!?

Uh-oh, Dwight Howard is hurt again. It's okay though, the Lakers have a comfy lead and surely Kobe-the-Point will dish his team out of this one. Double uh-oh, it's not working! The Suns are winning now. I know, I got my eyes checked during the game, too. Losing seems impossible with Kobe-the-Point wearing his facilitator hat for the new-look Lakers. No need to panic, Kobe-the-point will quarterback his team to victory, he really knows how to pass that rock.

Oh wow, a missed lefty layup by Kobe-the-Point at a crucial point in the fourth quarter. Did Kobe-the-Point forget that shots are outside his wheelhouse now? Whatever, they lost. The important thing here is that Kobe-the-Point dropped nine dimes.

Also, Michael Beasley is still the man.

One Game We Didn't Watch Last Night:  San Antonio Spurs vs. Charlotte Bobcats

Bobcats: 78, Spurs: 102

Sorry NBA, couldn't catch this one. There was some drying paint in my apartment that required my undivided attention.
