Fantastic Follies: Fantasy Picks For Today

We brought in a ringer for our Playoff coverage. He's a new writer that you'll be seeing more of around here. He calls himself The Crow and has been obsessed with predicting sports outcomes since middle school. If you're betting, take his advice. If he asks you to join his fantasy league, don't—you won't have a chance.

I come to you today with rosy cheeks and goose-bumped wings. The bio given to me by the sound minds at No Regard not only made me blush, but also inspired me to bring you another piece, this time from my wheelhouse: fantasy hoops. Below, please find my fantasy stud from each game today.

Spurs-Jazz: Tony Parker

The only way to rebound from losing a dime piece like Eva Longoria is to get in the paint and exchange love tears for tear drops. Parker should finish top five in the MVP voting and I expect you to see why today. It’s still one of the most astounding stats in hoops that he managed to lead the NBA in points in the paint a few years back. Expect him to beat Devin Harris time and time again on his way to a neat 26 point, nine assist game with his typically high percentages. The only thing keeping him from those numbers would be a blowout.

(Dark Horse: Kawhi Leonard)

Lakers-Nuggets: Andrew Bynum

As I have previously mentioned, it will be the size of the Lake Show that will be the difference in this series. Assuming Bynum starts strong, I expect a heavy dosage of the New Jersey high school product on his way to a 30 and 10 performance, with three blocks.

(Dark Horse: Matt Barnes)

Celtics-Hawks: Rajon Rondo

My love affair with the broad-shouldered point guard is well documented, and I even went so far as to say this will be a triple-double series for the guy. I’m still waiting for that 20-20-20 game—which is somehow possible from him—but today we will just have to settle for a nifty 15-11-10, with five (you heard me FIVE) steals.

(Dark Horse: Brandon Bass)

Grizzlies-Clippers: Marc Gasol

The obvious choice here is Chris Paul and I’m penciling him in for 30 and 12 without hesitation. But that’s what we have come to expect from playoff CP3. What we don’t expect, although we should, is another beast mode performance from Pau’s younger, but better, brother. He’s the complete package and it should be on full display tonight against the athletic, but slender, DeAndre Jordan. It’s totally possible that Marc actually pushes for a triple double, but I’ll play it conservative and say he finishes with 18-10-6, with 3 blocks. Obvious man-crush here, but I just don’t see how he doesn’t impose his will at the urging of a raucous Memphis crowd.

(Dark Horse: Randy Foye)
